Severe Weather and University Closure Procedures

The following is an annual advisory notice for employees summarizing university procedures for severe weather and employee responsibility for attendance when significant weather conditions arise.

State Officials and Employees Ethics Act (SOEEA) – 2012 Mandatory Ethics Training Notification (October 16 through November 14, 2012)

Pursuant to the State Officials and Employees Ethics Act (PA 93-0617), the State of Illinois mandates that all employees on the payroll of State agencies and universities must complete an annual mandatory Internet-based ethics training program. All regular and temporary, part-time and full-time faculty, administrative/supportive professional staff, operating staff/civil service employees, graduate assistants, student employees, affiliates, and extra help employees working at Northern Illinois University are required by the State to take the on-line training.

2012 Summer Work Schedule

President Peters has authorized implementation of a four-day work week for the DeKalb campus during the summer of 2012. The four-day work week schedule will be ten weeks in duration, beginning on Monday, June 4 and extending through Friday, August 10. The regular five-day schedule will resume as of Monday, August 13.

Extended Winter Closure Schedule - HRS Transaction Processing Deadlines and Updates

With the extended winter closure quickly approaching, a number of transaction processes must be completed in Human Resource Services (HRS) prior to December 20, 2011. Extended Winter Holiday/Closure Schedule for 2011

President Peters, following consultation with the Operating Staff Council, Supportive Professional Staff Council, the divisional Vice Presidents, and other area representatives, has approved an extension of the 2011 university winter holiday closure schedule to include Wednesday, December 21, and Thursday, December 22, as Scheduled Closure Days.

Pursuant to the State Officials and Employees Ethics Act (PA 93-0617), the State of Illinois mandates that all employees on the payroll of state agencies and universities must complete an annual mandatory Internet-based ethics training program. All training must be completed during the October 18 through November 16, 2011 period. Employee Release Time for the Annual Pre-Retirement Planning Seminar

Human Resource Services (HRS) is sponsoring the Annual Pre-Retirement Planning Seminar on Wednesday, October 19, 2011, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Holmes Student Center Regency Room. The university encourages employees to attend this all day seminar that will provide information on several retirement topics.
