Starting Salary: $9.78/hour plus benefits

REQUIRED SKILLS

High school graduation or equivalent.

Any one or any combination of the following:

18 months clerical/office support work experience including use of computer systems
OR
30 semester hours of college or university course work in office occupations, business administration, business education or closely related fields
OR
18 months vocational training that provided a knowledge of clerical procedures
OR
48 semester hours of college or university course work in any curriculum.

Ability to type 40 words per minute.

PREFERRED SKILLS

Knowledge of Word and Excel

Current NIU employees need to complete a Civil Service Request to Test form (click here) and submit to Human Resource Services.

All qualified candidates will be scheduled to take a State Universities Civil Service Examination. At the time of testing, you will be required to present a photo ID.

NOTE: If you have previously tested for this classification and you wish to rewrite the examination to improve your score, please contact the Civil Service Testing Office at 815-753-6034.
