We seek applicants with a Ph.D., DBA or ABD in Finance from an AACSB-accredited school. We have a strong preference for those with successful teaching experience at the MBA level. Applicants must show potential as successful scholars within finance, be effective teachers at the graduate level, and be able to work collegially within the department and college. Refereed publications, conference presentations, and related business experience are desirable. Support for research activity is offered and includes summer support, travel, graduate assistants, and a reduced teaching load. The department and college subscribe to WRDS and provide access to CRSP, Compustat, SDC, TAQ, Eventus, and others resources.

We invite applications for a tenure-track position at the assistant or associate level, in the Department of Finance at Northern Illinois University beginning in the fall of 2010.

Northern Illinois University, the second largest public university in the state of Illinois, is a comprehensive, doctoral/research -extensive, university with about 25,000 students located in DeKalb, Illinois, which is 65 miles west of downtown Chicago. The College of Business has approximately 3,100 undergraduates and 900 graduate students. The Finance Department has 9 full-time faculty members who teach in the undergraduate, evening MBA, Executive MBA, and Professional MBA programs as well as offering support courses for the MS in Accountancy program. The finance faculty members are very productive with their work appearing, or forthcoming, in top level, peer-reviewed, finance publications including: JF, JFE, RFS, JFQA, JEMF, JBF, JIMF, JFM, FR, and JFR, among others.
Materials
A completed application includes: 1) a letter of interest, 2) a curriculum vita, 3) three letters of recommendation, and 4) evidence of teaching effectiveness. ABD applicants must indicate the current status of their dissertation and anticipated progress towards completion. We will be at the FMA meetings in October (October 21st through the 23rd, and possibly on the 24th).
