Skills
An earned doctorate (by time of appointment) in bilingual and/or ESL education or a related field, with background in methods, materials, assessment, and technology for English Language Learners with teaching experience in PK-12 ESL or bilingual education is required.
Preferred Skills
Preferred qualifications include competency in a language of a population served by bilingual programs in Illinois, scholarly record and research agenda, consulting/staff development experience, ability to teach a variety of courses leading to approval as an ESL or bilingual education teacher, knowledge of new developments and technologies used in ELL teacher education, and experience in administering grant funded programs.
Responsibilities
Assistant Professor with expertise in Bilingual and ESL PK-12 education. Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in bilingual education and ESL education leading to bilingual/ESL teaching approvals, maintain a record of scholarly presentations and writings, engage in consulting and/or staff development; advise graduate students; direct theses and doctoral
dissertations; develop and teach academic programs in both campus and off-campus environments.
This is a permanent, tenure-track position, with salary based on experience. The desired contract starting date is August 16, 2010.
