NIU Annual Employee Online Ethics Training Notification and Login Information

The State of Illinois mandates all university employees on active status, regardless of classification, to complete the annual online ethics training program including employees on sabbaticals, educational, and unpaid leaves. New employees hired in this current year also will need to complete the online training.  Employees on approved FMLA or disability leave that lasts through the entire training period are exempt and will take the training upon returning to work. We are required to report to the State Employees who do not complete the training requirement by the deadline.  Those employees are then subject to the possibility of substantial fines and disciplinary action as determined by the State of Illinois.

The Ethics Training site opens at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, October 16 and is shut down at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 14 If you wait until the last day you will need to be logged in no later than 4:00 p.m. to assure you complete the training prior to the 5:00 p.m. deadline.  We have been informed by the State that no extensions will be given. (Departments may require their employees to complete the training by an earlier date).

The Ethics Training Module is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week and is shutdown exactly at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 14th.  Departments will need to make a computer available for employees who do not have one.

Login Information

Unique login ID’s have been created for each employee to enter into the training module. (Do not use your NIU login ID). Use the following formula shown in the example below by using your name, month of birth and day of birth (no hyphens and no spaces; be aware sometimes a middle initial, or JR/SR, or I,II,III, etc. may not be in the login ID. The ID is mainly  based on how your name is listed in the payroll system).  If your ID does not work, contact the Ethics Training office at 815-753-9191 or email ethicstraining@niu.edu.   For the password, use the default password: ethics#123 and then hit submit. You will be asked to create a new password. The new password you create will be used to re-enter the site during this training period only.  It is recommended to either print or save a copy of the completion certificate for your records.
