Dr. Phil McGraw, resident human behavior expert and regular guest on the Oprah Winfrey Show, will headline the Biennial Conference for Women on April 18 and 19, 2002, at the U of I Assembly Hall in Urbana-Champaign. And that's just the beginning. Over the two-days, you'll hear from seven more knock-your-socks-off speakers, visit our health services tent and interactive expo, have books signed by your favorite speakers, and mingle with the most incredible women on this planet-women just like you!

Speaker Highlights:

  • Dr. Mae Jemison was the first woman of color to go into space. That was a life-long dream realized, but her story is far from over. Dr. Jemison will share why pursuing one dream just isn't enough.
  • Amanda Gore, named one of the top ten hottest speakers of 2001 by Meetings and Conventions Magazine, will challenge how you approach all the relationships in your life.
  • Bonnie St. John was an amputee at the age of five, but that didn't stop her from becoming an Olympic athlete, Rhodes Scholar and co-owner of her own business. Find out how she overcame and achieved it all.
  • Dan Clark is the primary contributing author to the Chicken Soup for the Soul books. A paralyzing injury shot down his football career but not his spirit. His stories are powerful and life changing.
  • Barbara Smith is a celebrated restaurateur, host of a syndicated television series and creator of B. Smith Style Magazine. She will share her journey from fashion model to one of the most successful entrepreneurs in America.
  • Benjamin Zander, conductor of the Boston Philharmonic, looks at music as a metaphor for leading a productive life. Before he's finished, you'll be on your feet singing and making joyful music.
  • Also performing are The Second City traveling comedy troupe, University of Illinois student talent and much more.

These tickets are going fast! For additional information about the conference, go to www.elementsofyou.com.
