Career Development for the 21st Century Disability Mentoring Day Wednesday, October 20, 2004
NIUs Affirmative Action and Diversity Resources Program, The Center for Access-Ability Resources and Kishwaukee College's Assistive Resources Center invite you to participate in Disability Mentoring Awareness Day, Wednesday, October 20, 2004. Set aside some time on your calendar to mentor a student with disabilities during a job shadowing experience any time during 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. and attend the Disability Forum, from 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. in the Campus Life Building, room 100. Enjoy dialogue with panel guests, community members and students. This year the theme is Breaking Barriers
Building Access. Participants will share personal experiences in an effort to promote awareness, raise comfort levels and improve understanding in breaking barriers and building access. More importantly, the mentoring experience helps students enrich their life plan by experiencing current career choices in the actual environment or considering new career options.
Need more information? Join us for one of the Disability Mentoring Day Brown Bag luncheons. During the luncheons participants will explore ways to make the day with mentees/students successful. Participants will receive information packets, applications forms and interact in group discussions. Please call and register for the luncheon of your choice.
