What restrictions are placed on departments regarding copyrighted materials, and what are the risks of not knowing and not observing copyright law? This workshop will cover the basics on the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act as it relates to NIU faculty and staff. This program is important for anyone having access to computerized student records as well as folders containing student records relating to their academic history which are housed in departmental offices. There will be a question/answer session to address specific issues you might have. Case studies will be presented for you to immediately begin applying the concepts. This two session workshop will help you learn to plan, organize, and conduct more effective meetings. Part I will focus on organizing, logistics, agendas and running meetings. MANAGING & HANDLING CASH

This workshop is designed for staff that have direct responsibility for handling and depositing cash and for the staff who manage cash operations. This workshop will cover controls over cash sales, including the use of cash registers and electronic point-of-sale systems, issuing cash receipts, custody of cash, and making cash deposits, general guidelines for achieving internal control over cash transactions, including separation of duties and other procedural checks and balances. ORIENTING AND TRAINING YOUR EMPLOYEES

After hiring employees, supervisors are responsible for providing orientation to their employees. After the Human Resource orientation, each department must organize appropriate orientation to the department, its procedures, and to the university. Supervisors also need to determine their staffs training needs and help facilitate employee access to necessary training and development resources. From the "big picture" to the crucial details, all aspects of event planning will be covered. STUDENT EMPLOYMENT & ON-LINE APPLICATION PROCESS
This topic will cover all aspects of student employment processes and procedures on an individual basis. An overview of the new student on-line employment application system from both the student and department employment prospective will also be presented. This system will allow students to place their resume and application information on-line for the departments to review, while allowing departments to post their job and search for available applicants from the system database. Anger Management 10 Step Individual Tutorial Program
The key to anger management is learning a set of skills and being able to use these skills to change your response to situations that trigger your anger. The Anger Management Program will use THE ANGER CONTROL WORKBOOK by Matthew McKay and Peter Rogers as the basis for learning these skills. Supervisors are encouraged to refer employees to this program when anger is interfering with their performance. Employees are encouraged to sign up when anger is interfering with their success. This program consists of 10 individual sessions. To sign up, please call 753-9191.
