With the advice of the University Council, President Peters has approved the following holiday schedule for 2007:

New Year’s Day (Holiday) Monday January 1, 2007
Martin Luther King, Jr. Day (Holiday) Monday January 15, 2007
Memorial Day (Holiday) Monday May 28, 2007
Independence Day (Holiday) Wednesday July 4, 2007
Labor Day (Holiday) Monday September 3, 2007
Thanksgiving (Holiday) Thursday November 22, 2007
Floating Holiday Friday November 23, 2007
Floating Holiday Monday December 24, 2007
Christmas Day (Holiday) Tuesday December 25, 2007
Floating Holiday Wednesday December 26, 2007
Floating Holiday Thursday December 27, 2007
Administrative Closure Friday December 28, 2007
Administrative Closure Monday December 31, 2007
New Year’s Day (Holiday) Tuesday January 1, 2008

Hourly employees in positions not covered by collective bargaining agreements will be paid at the regular rate of pay plus 1-1/2 times the regular rate of pay for all hours worked on any of the above named holidays or, if mutually agreed to, by compensatory time off at the rate of time-and-one-half plus holiday pay.  Employees covered by prevailing rates will be compensated in accordance with local area agreements.  Employees required to work on December 28 and 31 (administrative closure days) will be given time off on an hour-for-hour basis to be used by June 30, 2008, or receive additional straight-time pay at the option of the department.

Per Campus Parking Services, parking enforcement for the 2006/2007 holiday period will be as follows:

December 11-15, 2006 FINALS WEEK: Permits are required in all lots and parking regulations will be enforced.
December 18-21, 2006 Permits are required in all lots and parking regulations will be enforced.
December 22, 2006 - January 1, 2007 No NIU parking permits required.  All other parking regulations will be enforced.
January 2-12, 2007 Permits are required in all lots and parking regulations will be enforced.
January 15, 2007 Holiday (Martin Luther King, Jr. Day):  No NIU parking permits required.  All other parking regulations will be enforced.
January 16, 2007 FIRST WEEK OF CLASSES:  Parking permits are required in all lots and parking regulations will be enforced.

Note:  The visitor's lot will be open at no charge from December 22, 2006 through January 1, 2007.  Payment will be required again on January 2, 2007
