longer issue printed savings bonds through payroll savings plans. This change is being made in an effort to reduce the costs associated with the U.S. Savings Bond Program and is consistent with the Treasury Department's long-term plan to issue all securities electronically. As a result, Northern Illinois University will be taking the necessary steps to discontinue the payroll savings plan and Human Resource Services will no longer be able accept orders for printed savings bonds after December 30, 2010. Additionally, the balance of any funds that have been collected, but not yet utilized, to purchase a savings bond will be returned to you through payroll.
