Fitness Organizations both On-Campus and Off-Campus
The Employee Assistance Program encourages employees to improve their overall health.  Through regular 30 minutes of aerobic exercise a day, you can improve your physical health as well as your mental health.  You can do this by taking a brisk walk or participating in aerobic activities at a fitness organization. 

The NIU EAP is providing a list of On-Campus and Off-Campus fitness programs that offer corporate discounts Each program listed describes services, programs, and corporate discounts.  The information provided regarding classes offered, schedules, and discount promotions are subject to change.  You are encouraged to check the website of the fitness organization you choose for more up-to-date information.  Participation in any of the fitness programs is totally your choice.

Smoking Cessation Programs
Quitting smoking is a challenge for everyone and is, of course, very beneficial to your overall health.   Research has shown that every time you quit smoking, it increases your chance of quitting completely.

  • Kishwaukee Hospital offers the Cancer Society’s Fresh Start smoking cessation program.  You pay $25 up front and when you complete the classes, your $25 is returned to you.  For information contact Beth Busching at 815-756-1521 ext. 152418.
  • The Employee Assistance Program offers 4-6 individual sessions to assist you in quitting smoking.  For more information contact the Employee Assistance Program at 815-753-9191.
