Wellness Fair
The Wellness Fair is sponsored by the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and Recreational Services. The purpose is to provide information regarding all aspects of health and overall well-being for employees, students, retirees and members of the community.
The Wellness Fair is offered once a year at the end of March or beginning of April. On-campus and off-campus organizations focusing on health and well-being are invited to participate in the fair. Applications are available in January and the due date is printed on the application.
Flu Shots
Annual on-campus flu shots are offered by the DeKalb County Health Department and are sponsored by the Employee Assistance Program. The flu shots are usually offered on campus in late October and early November.
Specific dates will be posted as the information is received from the EAP. Occasionally the flu serum is received late, in that case the Health Department will postpone the date.
The flu shot is paid for by the employee’s state health insurance provider for only NIU employees and retirees. Dependents, spouses or partners who are not NIU employees are charged a fee for their flu shot. Students can get their flu shot at NIU University Health Service for a reduced rate.
Check here for flu shots dates.
If you miss the dates the flu shot is offered at NIU, the Health Department has other sites where they are offered.
Weight Watchers at Work Program
The Employee Assistance Program sponsors the Weight Watchers at Work Program which is offered every semester that has enough employees and students registered.
This program is a fee based program and unlike the community programs, you are required to pre-pay. Traditionally you prepay by writing three checks that are cashed at specific times throughout the group meetings.

The Weight Watchers at Work program is separate from the listserv support group, Losing Weight.
