Significant changes to 2024-2025 FAFSA
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is your application for financial aid at Northern Illinois University and determines whether you qualify for grants, loans, work study and some scholarships. The FAFSA has minor changes each year, but for 2024-2025, the biggest changes in decades are being implemented.
The FAFSA Simplification Act expands eligibility for federal financial aid. It streamlines the financial aid application process for students and families and provides a better user experience in completing the form. Most students will have a much shorter and easier experience with the FAFSA. Check out the FAFSA Simplification Updates Page for more information.

Prioritize You for Finals Success
With final exam week right around the corner, we want to encourage all Huskies to prioritize their mental health and well-being. Your success matters and you matter. Balance studying for finals and taking care of yourself by intentionally scheduling time for self-care. Prioritize getting a good night’s rest, eating a nourishing meal, recharging with movement, providing yourself with words of encouragement, asking for help, connecting with friends, and more.
