One of the best parts of college can be discovering exciting things to do in a new town. DeKalb and its surrounding communities have a lot to offer, including hidden gems known only by locals. Whether you’re venturing out for the afternoon or a night on the town, there’s something close by to keep you entertained.

Upcoming bridge repairs to impact campus traffic.
The City of DeKalb will be repairing two bridges in the community that will impact traffic flow to and on campus. The bridges located on Lucinda Ave. and First St. will begin being repaired on March 1 and construction is expected to end in August. More information, including detour maps, is available on the City of DeKalb's website or by viewing NIU's interactive map.
NIU STEAM is hiring summer camp counselors.
NIU STEAM is looking for dedicated summer camp counselors to lead and supervise campers while encouraging them to explore, learn, grow and have fun in a high-quality STEAM education environment.
Day and evening shifts available. Applications are due March 10, 2023.

Conference on Undergraduate Research and Engagement (CURE) registration now open.
The Conference on Undergraduate Research and Engagement (CURE) is NIU's annual undergraduate research symposium. CURE provides NIU students with the opportunity to formally present faculty-mentored undergraduate research, artistry and engagement projects that they have participated in during the academic year. All CURE presenters must register by March 10, 2023.
During the in-person research symposium on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 students from all colleges will showcase projects they are completing or have completed as part of a capstone or senior project, community engagement project or course, independent study or funded research and artistry program through posters and exhibits for a chance to place in their respective award category.

Nominations sought for David W. Raymond Award for Use of Technology in Teaching.
Do you know a classroom innovators? Faculty in all content areas using technology in their classrooms may apply for the David W. Raymond Award for the Use of Technology in Teaching.
- Our Raymond Grant awards $1,000 annually.
- All tenured/tenure-track faculty are eligible.
- Faculty may be nominated by students, colleagues or themselves.
