NIU Safe App - stay safe Huskies!
Keep yourself and our campus safe by downloading the NIU Safe App. You can receive weather and safety warnings, get police assistance at the touch of a button and walk safely across campus by allowing friends or the police to temporarily track your progress. Learn more and download.
Stop by Braven UNIV 301 table during Week of Welcome.
It’s not too late to learn about UNIV 301 - The Braven Career and Leadership Accelerator class. Braven staff will be hosting a table at various locations on campus during Week of Welcome Thursday August 24 - Saturday, August 26, so you can learn more about UNIV 301, and get some free swag!
Why take the course?
- Get mentorship and instruction from working professionals in the Chicagoland area
- Create a professional portfolio (i.e., Resume, Cover Letter, LinkedIn profile, etc.)
- Build community and professional networks
- Gain long-lasting support. Once you complete UNIV 301, you are paired with a mentor to support you through your academic and professional career planning
UNIV 301 is more than just a class – it is an opportunity to learn about the actionable steps you can take to help you achieve your goals. Whether that is attaining an internship, graduate school, and/or a full-time job, UNIV 301 course is there to support! Interested? Enroll for Fall 2023 via MYNIU. The course is fully virtual, and you can select the Tuesday or Wednesday session, both meeting from 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm.

Policy Library update – revised policies
Revised policies are open to review and comment for a 30-day period. This provides our NIU community the opportunity to consider and respond to the revised policies before they take effect. The revised policies are:

It's Corn Fest weekend in Downtown DeKalb!
Looking for something fun to do during your first weekend back on campus? Corn Fest is one of the last remaining free music festivals among Illinois music festivals and summer festivals. Celebrating its 46th year, the festival will be held in downtown DeKalb on Lincoln Hwy. between 1st and 4th St. from Friday, Aug. 25 through Sunday, Aug. 27.

Transfer2Transfer Peer Mentor Program
The Transfer2Transfer (T2T) mentoring program matches new transfer students with peer mentors who have successfully transferred to NIU. Your mentors will help answer your questions and get you connected to involvement opportunities on campus. Your assigned mentor team will keep in touch with you throughout your upcoming semester to guide you through the fall 2023 season. We know your time here at NIU is important, so we want to help you make the most of it!
Complete the mentoring request form today to let us know you’d like to join. Make sure to select “Transfer2Transfer”. While you’re there take a look at some of the other mentoring programs NIU has to offer!

Book Charge Program open now through Sept. 8, 2023.
If you are receiving financial aid, you have a convenient method of buying books and school supplies at the beginning of each semester. You can use your OneCard ID at Huskie Books and Gear to purchase your books and school supplies using your student bursar account and you will be billed at a later day. Please visit the Bursar's Office website for billing and payment due dates. The book charge program is now open through Sept. 8, 2023.

For best service levels, order your course materials as soon as you see them posted on the Huskie Books and Gear online store. You can shop for materials one of two ways. If you enter your student ID number, preceded by a zero, the list of materials needed for all your classes will populate. Simply add them to your shopping cart for purchase. You can also shop for materials by course by entering your course information into the dropdown boxes that appear on the website.
